Creativity & Community with Work-Shop in Redfern

Posted by: KatieSharman July 28th, 2015

We recently caught up with our neighbours Matt and Chester at Work-Shop in Redfern, in their fun and creative space on Cleveland Street. Work-Shop have teamed up with Australia's brightest creative minds to provide a range of short courses in life skills and alternative art, ranging from printmaking to blending tea, to street art, learning the ukelele, making DIY furniture and getting involved in creative arts to support social initiatives such as White Ribbon Day. While we were there the boys contributed their Survival Tips and told us more about some of the amazing programs they do, including lots of their work with renowned street artist Sid Tapia.

Work-Shop recently partnered with TTW Engineers to host an incredible event called Change Your Perspective Street Art, held in Chippendale. The night included a presentation by Matt and Chester and Sid Tapia about the history of street art, followed by a community mural art session, where everybody got involved and learnt some spray can skills to create a huge canvas that read 'Perspective'. Throughout the event, Sid Tapia did a live painting demonstration and created an incredible canvas to be auctioned off, with all proceeds generously being donated to Weave.

Sincerest thanks to Work-Shop and TTW for their support and holding such a great event that celebrated creativity and connected community.
