NAIDOC WEEK FESTIVAL – WOOLLOOMOOLOO

NAIDOC WEEK Community Festival Woolloomooloo (Saturday July 8th 10am -4pm)  is a great opportunity to participate in a range of community initiatives and activities, supporting the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community.

The NAIDOC WEEK Community festival aims to emphasize and celebrate Indigenous cultural identity, linking people through creative expression driven by the 2017 NAIDOC WEEK Theme “Our Languages Matter” using music, song, food, dance, art and stories to facilitate cultural connectedness.

Indigenous and non-Indigenous community and support services will come together and share space and place to support and raise awareness of Indigenous culture, while providing an opportunity to participate in social and economic life.

The collaborations of Weave Community Hub, local service providers, organisations and stall holders, supporting the community through this event affirms and provides opportunities for cultural connectedness, bringing about change to the issues of social isolation, community safety, culture and capabilities, economic development, healing, health and wellbeing.

Every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday afternoons leading up to NAIDOC WEEK, Weave Community Hub in Woolloomooloo will facilitate candle making, Jewellery Making and creative/artistic workshops. Participants have an opportunity to sell and display products at NAIDOC WEEK as part of a community stall.

Thursday 6th July, a blanket and cushion is all you need to rug up and take back the night, in the Forbes Street Reserve for an outdoor film night of “The Sapphires”. PG15+

Saturday 8th July, 10am - 4pm  Forbes Street Reserve Woolloomooloo, celebrate NAIDOC WEEK with friends family, community and enjoy free entertainment, food, rides, stalls and new friends.
