The annual charity event “Who wants to be a Rockstar” hosted by the Financial Industry Community Aid Program (FICAP) was held at the Beresford Hotel in Surry Hills, Thursday 20th March. Over 500 loyal finance industry people attended with representatives from various finance companies taking to the stage to compete for the 2014 RockStar music title.

The event raised more than $100,000 in aid of three charities: Weave Youth and Community Services, Redkite and YWCA NSW.

Marnie McLaren, FICAP Chairman said “We are so impressed with Weave’s Kool Kids Club. The work that Weave is undertaking provides social and educational programs for disadvantaged Indigenous children to help them succeed at school and go on to become leaders in the community”.

Two major highlights of the evening included launching the event with an Acknowledgment to Country by our very own young and proud Trei Stewart and a self written rap performed by Beau Foster and Kobie Duncan. They absolutely blew the house down!

We sincerely thank Adam Goodes for donating the oportunity for 8 people to have dinner with him at Zippos Restaurant Kyle Bay, and The Australian Ballet for donating an exceptional behind the scenes ballet experience for their recent show “Manon” for our lucky live auction Winners. A big thank you to Sydney Kings, Sydney Theatre Company and Sydney Swans for donating items for our silent auction also. In total all our items raised $10,600 for Weave’s  Kool Kids Club.

We thank the FICAP committee for all their hard work in coordinating the event, Weave is so humbled by everyones genirousity and we look forward to next year!
