Mad Pride celebrates youth and creativity attracting big star artists Shari Sebbens and Okenyo

This year Weave’s Mad Pride Youth Event was celebrated during National Mental Health Month. The event was hosted in the heart of Redfern Street at 107 Projects. It was a festival of live music performances, art displays and a very special exclusive performance by rising star Okenyo.

The night kicked off with our MC Sharri Sebbens from The Sapphires, a traditional Aboriginal smoking ceremony performed by Uncle Max, and Welcome to Country by Donna Ingrim. The talent showcased by the young people this year was incredible, from our young Kool Kids singers/dancers to the very talented Sabrina Soares who had the audience captivated with her angelic voice. Our boys Kobie and Beau closed the night with a self-written rap that had the audience bopping away to their beats.

Weave would like thank all the amazing staff, young people and volunteers that helped make the event possible. Kindness was definitely in the air and everyone’s contribution made Mad Pride 2013 unforgettable.
